Neuroscape

Sync minds and shatter Mainframes — a psionic duel of two parallel life dials, Mainframe (blue) and Bioframe (red).

Play time

Complexity

Before Turn 1

Setup

  • Pick a Mainframe — the psionic construct your deck runs on. Your Mainframe replaces the traditional 'commander' slot.

  • Both dials start at 20: Mainframe (blue, primary life) and Bioframe (red, physical life).

  • Both players draw an opening hand and may mulligan once.

  • In 2v2, teammates sit across the table and share turn timing but track their own dials.

Getting Started

How to play

  1. 1

Each turn: refresh Sync, draw a card, take your Signal actions, then declare psionic strikes.

  2. 2

Signal, Construct, and Anomaly cards are played by spending Sync from your reserve.

  3. 3

Some attacks target the Mainframe dial (blue), others target the Bioframe dial (red) — reducing either to zero eliminates the player.

  4. 4

On Scrywire's table, the ↑/↓ keys adjust the Mainframe dial. Hold B and use ↑/↓ to adjust the Bioframe dial.

  5. 5

The Memory Gauge tracks queued effects. When it fills, it resolves in the order effects were added — a slow but inevitable stack.

  6. 6

Reduce your opponent's Mainframe or Bioframe to zero to win (or, in 2v2, both members of the opposing team).

Core Rules

Rules to know

Two life dials

Mainframe (blue) and Bioframe (red) are tracked separately. Either hitting zero ends the game — protect both.

Sync

Your resource. It regenerates each turn based on the number of Constructs you control. Overextending on Constructs drains your Sync ceiling if they're removed.

Memory Gauge

A shared timeline of pending effects. When it hits capacity, everything queued resolves in order — plan around the fill.

Anomalies

One-shot disruptions that resolve immediately, often bypassing defenses. Great for finishing games or punishing over-commitment.

2v2 timing

Teammates alternate turns with the opposing team but strategise together. Coordinate Sync and Memory Gauge fill on a shared plan.

How You Win

Win conditions

  • Reduce an opposing player's Mainframe (blue dial) to zero.

  • Reduce an opposing player's Bioframe (red dial) to zero.

  • In 2v2, eliminate both members of the opposing team.

  • Your opponent cannot draw a card at the start of their turn.

Beginner Tips

Play smarter, faster

  • Watch both dials. It's easy to over-defend Mainframe and lose to a Bioframe strike.

  • The Memory Gauge is inevitable — don't play into a full gauge on the opponent's setup turn.

  • Constructs are your Sync ceiling. Trading them off often costs more than the damage you took.

  • In 2v2, don't split threats across both opponents — focus fire to force an elimination.
